ATMOS MIXING

  • Dolby Atmos is becoming the new standard for music. Allowing an immersive audio experience, with increased flexibility for better dynamics, EQ and imaging, Dolby Atmos is streaming ready and compatible with Apple, Tidal and Amazon music.

The two main benefits of Dolby Atmos are an increase in Streaming Revenue (by as much as 10% on Apple Music) and better placement on playlists.

All projects on Universal Records now have an Atmos mix delivered as standard. We have recently delivered Atmos Mixes for Rachel Chinouriri, Overpass, KETTAMA, Lathums, Blossoms and Keyside.

Don’t get left behind. Get in touch to see how simple our Stem Mastering process can be.

  • Accurate Stems

Please provide well-labelled audio stems in 24-bit / 48kHz WAV format

The sum of the stems should sound as close to the final stereo master as possible. We recommend bouncing your stems through any group or mix bus processing to achieve this.

Please group similar elements together where possible, but bounce individual stems for elements that might require extra control. Ideally you will provide between 12 and 25 stems stereo in total. A typical list of stems might include:

    Kick - Snare - Hi-hats - Overheads - Percussion - Bass - Acoustic Guitar - Electric Guitar - Lead Guitar - Pads - Arpeggiators - Leads - Low Strings - High Strings - Lead Vocals -Vocal Layers - Backing Vocals - Reverbs - Delays

    Stereo Master

Please include the final Stereo Master file!

A Dolby Atmos Stem Master needs to be exactly the same length as the Stereo Master file which is being uploaded to streaming services. We cannot begin the Atmos Mastering process without the final Stereo Master.

    Upload

Please send us your Stems and Stereo Master via our upload portal: https://kempstonstreet.wetransfer.com

  • Turnaround Time

We operate on a 3 working-day turnaround after we have confirmed that we have correctly received your files and that they sound close to the final stereo master.

    Review Process

We provide both a binaural render and an MP4 of the Dolby Atmos file via Samply.

Samply allows you to turn head-tracking on and experience moving your head around the immersive mix when using Apple Headphones. It also allows you to A/B against the stereo master and provide us time-stamped feedback and comments.

We can supply alternate formats (e.g., ADM BWF, 5.1 foldown etc) upon request.

In-person listening sessions in Dolby Atmos approved studios are available by appointment in Liverpool, London, or Leeds. *Please note there may be an additional charge for this.
